Congaree National Forest

The Hubs did one of his tricky tricky surprise trips...this time it was a day trip that the whole fam (minus Daisy) went on. I knew it was probably one of the cool parks we have near us...but I never like to guess because he either pretends he doesn't know or just won't tell me. So there's no point.

All I knew was that we were taking a picnic somewhere and he had his fancy schmancy new hiking boots on...so I dressed appropriately, dressed Bubba appropriately, and packed a day pack of waters and Bubba's lunch. We were getting subs from Publix I was told (points to The Hubs....Publix subs are my FAV!) And then off we went...

A little while later we came to the exit for Congaree National Forest. I knew it! :)

We got there and got the Jeep stroller all packed up and went into the ranger's station to see where we should go. It just happened that they were about to show a short film about the park, so we decided to see how long Bubba would let us watch...not very long. So off we went down the board walk.

The Boardwalk is about a mile loop through the park. Most of the park is swamp land, so the board walk is elevated so people can see the forest without messing with all the animals and such going about their daily business. We didn't get far though before Bubba decided it was lunch time.

Apparently now Bubba is into crushing his food instead of eating it. Great fun for him...not much fun for the big people that get to clean it up.

Onward we went...
I was a little jumpy...I thought everything that moved was an alligator or snake...

Apparently this is the tallest deciduous forest in the world??

REALLY big pine trees! We had fun saying their names...Loblolly.

All of it was really pretty....it got really dense here...kind of creepy..but cool.

On the way out we decided to let Bubba get some energy out because he was strapped in the stroller...

Bubba made a new friend. He seems to do that everywhere we go. This friend was extra special because his stick played music!

Then I got the idea to take a family picture. This is how that turned out...

And this is what Daisy thought of us for not taking her...
