Catch up = really long post!

In an attempt to include some of the things we're recently done in the last week...here's the world's longest post. (well...this blog's longest post...)

First up...Harmon's Tree Farm. Aka. Sketchville. Well, I mean, it's only scary if you think about the fact that apparently nobody works there. Or maybe if you hear all the weird creaky children's toys and playground equipment blowing in the wind. Or if you realize that it's a one stop shop: you can get your wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses/get married/have a reception/buy pumpkins and have a fall festival/get your christmas tree fully and all the dressings to decorate it/play putt putt/go down a water slide?/get lost in a corn maze/and see lots of old scary farm equipment. Haunted Hay Ride...NO THANKS!!! We stopped in...took some pictures (while watching our backs) and hit the road.

All jokes aside, it looked like it could have been a pretty cool place in it's hayday, but now its just a little weird/cool.

Next on the list...my new toy! My dad gave me his old Nikon FG...an old SLR camera. I've secretly wanted this thing FOR-EVER! Now I get to play with it all the time! (Thanks Pops!) Apparently you can still get film developed and saved onto CD's as JPEGs, so for the time being I guess that's what I'll do for printing purposes. I'm looking into a darkroom idea. I've also been reading a lot from a blogger that says she always tells people to try to learn photography using a film camera because it makes YOU be a good PHOTOGRAPHER and not simply good at Photoshop. YOU actually have to make a good picture...interesting. I took 3 rolls of film this weekend at camp with our students...so we'll just wait and see if I'm any good! Haha!
The Hubs is being a good cook in the background!

Third on the list...Awanita! We took the students there last year and this year we went again! Great times! All my pics are on film which hasn't been developed...so video is all I've got to prove the awesomeness so far. All I can say is its a waterslide...off the side of a mountain...into a lake...in 60 degree weather...with The Hubs and TC. Nice.

Fourth item: My son apparently likes to attack my hair and pin me to the ground so he can jump on my face. And The Hubs likes to get in on the action and join the fun. Until it hurts...and I have to ruin all the fun.
My view from the floor

The reaction to me saying "ouch..that hurts"
And last but not least...my new creation (with the help of MC! TONS OF THANKS!) I've been eyeing these cute journal covers that lots of ladies at church have...finally I asked one about it and they told me MC made it! So I asked MC if she'd show me how to make it. Little did she know she's pretty much be teaching me how to sew! Haha! A few hours later...this came out!
Vintage fabric in all it's glory! Never mind the weird missing stitches...

It's been a great week, but crazy busy, and it doesn't stop now... or really ever apparently! But it's our life, and we love to have fun living it!
