Shots and Reverse Trick or Treating

Yesterday Joe and I had to get our flu and Tdap shots. We have never gotten flu shots before, we just didn't see the need. Well now that we have a newborn during flu season, we decided that we would try it this year. We were also recommended to get a Tdap booster, since there is a rise in whooping cough in SC this year, and again, we have a newborn to deal with. Well, the whole morning Joe was in freakout mode...he hates doctors and needles of any sort. We get there and the nurse just does it, quick and dirty. It really wasn't that bad! Then the pain set in. And I felt bad for making fun of him...it really did hurt! It kind of felt numb in both arms at first, reminding us of Ace Ventura running through the jungle saying "Three darts is tooo muuuchhh!" And then it began to hurt. Maybe it was a combo of holding Liam and the shot, but I couldn't lift my arm above my shoulder! I felt like a whimp! And then the other symptoms set in.....I felt every joint in my body. And it ached. And I swore I wouldn't ever get another flu shot. Ha!

During all of this yesterday, the Refuel students went "reverse trick or treating" where they went door to door dressed up but GAVE candy instead of received. It was a really fun way to get the students out to meet their neighbors. However, we had to detach them from Liam first! It was the first time most of them had seen him, and he was a hit....I must say, I can't blame them when there's a "bag of bones" as cute as him!
