Beads for Life

A few weeks ago I was introduced to an awesome organization, Beads for Life. The premise is that women in Uganda, whether they be freed slaves from wars, widows, or single mothers, make beads out of recycled paper and women from the U.S. distribute them through bead parties, websites, and other means. The beads are amazing...I never knew you could make something so pretty with paper! And the stories of the beadmakers are so inspiring! I'm hosting a bead party where you can come watch a video of the Ugandan women, hear their stories, and get some history about the beads, then see all the amazing beads and jewelry made from them. These make GREAT gifts for other women, because when you buy these you're actually taking part of something wonderful and helping women across the world come out of extreme poverty. My party is going to be next Saturday 6/20 at 3:00p.m. If you can't come and want to see the beads I'll have them at my house for the next couple of weeks to look at or you can go to the website and buy them directly. Please come and support this worthy cause and also get some beautiful jewelry in the process!
